Zygmunt Bauman: a Polish/Jewish (and Yorkshire) Life. A talk by Janet Wolff, Professor Emerita, University of Manchester.
Zygmunt Bauman was an internationally renowned sociologist who escaped with his family from German-occupied Poland, served in the Polish army in exile and was forced out of Poland in 1968. From 1973 he and Janet Wolff were colleagues at the University of Leeds. Janet will talk about his work, and also about her long friendship with him, as well as his eventful life in Poland before his forced emigration in 1968.
