Menorah Synagogue Outreach, Menorah Walking Group and Menorah Youth are promoting a sponsored Matza ramble in the Peak District in aid of:
- World Jewish Relief: supporting impoverished Jewish communities in Eastern Europe
- ESRA: Students build a community supporting Ethiopian children in Israel
The walk starts at Pym Chair car park* (460m) and climbs to Cats Tor. From there, it’s a steady ascent along a largely paved route to Shining Tor (560m). The path descends to the ruins of Errwood Hall where we have our Pesach picnic. Then we climb back to Pym Chair, stopping for a quick detour to a tiny chapel. In total it is around 8 km (5 miles). We recommend walking boots as some of the paths are uneven and may be muddy.
We’re hoping you can get sponsorship, and would like to suggest a minimum of £10. But don’t worry if you can’t raise that much – come and enjoy the day!
If you would like to come on the walk, please email email@example.com. Under 18s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
*Pym Chair: Grid Reference SJ995768 (OS Explorer map OL 24). Sat Nav SK10 5XL will take you to Jenkin Chapel – Pym Chair is about 1km East of here (ascend the hill and the car park is just on your left at the junction at the summit)
