THE TOGETHER PLAN
UK Charity ‘The Together Plan’ will be visiting Manchester Menorah on 29 October. Five members of their ‘Youth for Youth’ group will be running a session 2-4pm, specifically aimed at anyone in the 17 to 30 age group. The Together Plan is a charity working with socially and economically disadvantaged communities in the Former Soviet Union and they are currently focusing their efforts in Belarus. They work with many Jewish communities helping them to learn skills for self-development. Annually members of ‘Youth for Youth’ travel to Belarus to run a training programme for their peers and a day camp for children aged 5 to 14. We have found that young Jewish adults have a great deal to bring to this project in a variety of guises, and the beauty of it is that you can give your time, efforts, energy, ideas, virtually and/or physically in small doses or in big hits. Every bit counts and the greatest part is that we are creating a virtual global community with ‘Youth for Youth’ members now in the UK, Belarus, Israel, Ukraine, the USA and Russia.
Whether you are coming to the end of your school years, are at University, on a gap year, in the world of work, settling down to married life or just taking time out of life, then this is for you. If you are already involved in youth movements, synagogue life, general saving of the world – that’s great, you will really love this, and if you have had no previous involvement in any youth movements and you are not someone who is a frequent visitor to the synagogue – that’s not an issue. This is a real social action project with many different elements and there really is something for everyone. So, come and join us on 29 October for a fun filled session and to learn more about how The Together Plan’s ‘Youth for Youth’ are building a network of young Jewish adults aged 17-30 in the UK who are together making a real and tangible difference to Jews living in the last Dictatorship in Europe.
