Synagogue security is run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers who take turns to be on duty every Shabbat and the festivals and also for a wide range of social events that take place at the synagogue throughout the year. We liaise regularly with the Community Security Trust and with Greater Manchester Police to keep abreast of issues that affect Manchester’s Jewish community in general and Menorah in particular.
Information for visitors
In view of hightened security, if you would like to visit our synagogue, please contact the office first for clearance. Our security team reserve the right to vet all visitors before entry.
Please note that it is unfortunately not possible to visit the sanctuary outside service times, unless this has been previously cleared by ringing the Synagogue office.
If you are a Member or Friend of Menorah, please consider joining the security team. We can always use more volunteers, and it means that each person will be on duty less often. Women are equally welcome; we already have several on the team and they will be delighted if more join them. If you would like to know more about what security duty entails, please contact the Security Director, whose contact details are in every issue of Shofar, Menorah’s bi-monthly magazine. Or by email to
