Urgent appeal for pillow-cases and balls of wool
Evelyn Yaffe, a League of Jewish Women member, is a member of a sewing circle which is currently working hard making scrub bags for care staff in nursing homes. Firstly thanks to everyone who has donated so far; it’s much appreciated. Here is an update of what’s still needed:
The team urgently needs donations of cotton coloured or patterned pillowcases in good condition only, to make cheerful colourful scrub bags and will also accept white and beige. No further sheets or duvets are needed thanks, so please do not include. Demand from local care homes is high, so please hurry up, search your cupboards and arrange your donation. If you have a sewing machine and can work from home, please
volunteer to join the machinist team; the sewing task is not complicated.
Evelyn is also part of the Big Knit team who knit for baby units and care homes and is seeking donations of balls of any colour ply wool (not oddments). In addition, if you are interested in joining in and knitting squares for blankets or shawls, or sleeves for premature babies or knitted strips for full face visors, wool, knitting needles and patterns can be provided. Any enquiries about donations and contributions should be directed to Barbara Paul on 07983076516.
